Guild Wars 2 - Be a Perfect Piscator in Echovald Wilds
The next stop on our fishing journey is, Echovald Wilds. When you’re ready to fish this map, it will be essential to start thinking about packing a snack for your trips. Fishing power of 250, from bait, rod, antique lure, and “Tips on Fishing,” will get you at the low end of the 250-300 power you need to catch the fish on this map. Fishing food will give you +150 putting you at 375. Now you’re good to go!
Fishing Food
Fishing food is unlike typical buffing food in that from Fine to Ascended, you gain the same +150 buff. The gain you get from each type of food is your Magic Find, starting at 18% and going as high as 30%, which does not have an effect on your ability to catch fish of higher rarity. You can craft fishing food from the converted fillets from your catches using at least a 150-level Chef (for the fine option) or buy from the Trading Post. Sushi recipes are unlocked automatically at their Chef level requirement.
There are also Ascended Feasts that can be crafted with a 500 Chef after purchasing the recipes for 1 Gold and 35k Karma each. Like any ascended feast, these can be shared, so they are great to have for fishing parties. All Ascended fishing feasts give +150 fishing power and +20 magic find. They also grant other stat buffs. Vendors selling these recipes can be found in New Kaineng, Echoval Wilds, and Arborstone.
The Fish
Echovald Wilds has 14 unique fish you need to catch to complete the achievement. Lake Lutgardis is the core of this map’s fishing nodes. Fishing vendors are located in the nearby Mori Village. Lake Fish are found in the lake itself, while Grotto Fish are found in two tunnels, one north from the northmost point and one west from the westmost point. Exploring the grotto to the west, as you will for map completion, you will find a hidden area with 5 respawning nodes for Grotto Fish, a great spot to easily farm for collection achievement.
Echovald Wilds is easy to hit all the notes in a nice loop since they are concentrated mostly in one area. There is also a tournament in the area that takes place right in the center of the lake! If you need to catch up on the breakdown of fishing power, see my post on Fishing Basics!
